can't believe it

Thursday, June 22, 2006

It's raining dogs and cats outside of shanghai uni hostel which I cannot remember the name of it.

in 1.5 hrs, I will be off on a train to beijing to visit my dearest friend cheryl!

can't believe I came this far in this trip.

everyone left on 18 june and I felt I am the lone ranger ever since then.

but NO!

I started chatting up with people and knowing people from other countries.
pretty cool!

i like the whole new experience.

and especially thanks to dearest jOhn - NTU gip student who is over there working and still have to entertain me for the past few days meeting up till late, chilling with me in a bar eventhough he has to wake up at 7am early in the morning.

he's great! yeye nice guy

another guy I must thank is the Shanghai Uni MBA student named George. hats off to him man! whenever i need help, I juz call him and he will be THERE. physically and mentally! anytime! gosh... where can i find this in singapore? singapore guys will juz run off and say NO TIME!!

he helped so much without asking anything in return. if only china men can be that nice... hehee.... of coz I am not ungrateful, I repay him so at least I do not feel so bad. Max is another student from the MBA program I must thank. brought us clubbing in rojam bar and we did not even c him almost the whole time!

yeah, both of them are great. we are thankful.

travelling on my own has never been the same.
wondering what to do. wondering what's next and taking note of people around me.

I hate to feel helpless! but I am not so far.

Can't wait to c cheryl in beijing!
can't wait for daniel to come shanghai and join in for the shopping!
of coz i miss my family too.
can't wait to c my dogs and my family and HIM too :P

meanwhile pray for my safety and c you guys very very soon :)

it's all over

I dunno where to start and where to end.

3 weeks is over and I wanna say the shanghai university and hong kong baptist university summer program has been one of the best thing that happened to my life.

simply amazing how time flies and I've once again gained another level of perspective in life.

I've learned so much about working with classmates with cross cultural diversity : france, holland, hongkong, australia. THey are so great that I am gonna miss each and everyone of them.

I came with an open mind and an open heart and now, my heart has grown in diameters - broader i mean.

I've seen the poverty of china, learned chinese culture and I wanna brush up on my chinese language.

I used to look down on china and say hey! I wanna go europe and USA.

but now... China rocks! :P

Like what michelle who was our program coordinator - a fabulous woman.
been to cornell university and worked in washington for years before going to hongkong to work.

I asked her why din she continue staying on in the USA to work?
she told me this, "I prefer Asia, it's much more interesting."

true.

what kinda pay can u expect and the kinda skills they need you in the developed countries?
U can be so ordinary there. nothing niche. noone special.
whereas china, you are important. u r needed and best of all, u learn more.
and I think as a Singaporean, I am proud to say, we have both skills becoz of our exposure to western and eastern culture and of coz our bilingual skills.

shanghai oh shanghai. lovely bund.

in case u think it's the shopping. nope (that's besides this)
the people here? nahz.. they can be real nasty - shouting, spitting, scolding.
the ladies here are really HOT! hot in a way - they can dress well, daring and bold and damn! they r fair with good complexion.

ok watever.

We went for corporate visits to big MNCs and all i can say, I am so impressed.
talents are needed in china and the pay?
u betcha - EXPATS!and with the low standard of living - u can be a queen here boy!

the houses? are like western countries.
ok im not trying to bullshit here but I've been to paris, USA, switzerland
ya and they like cars of volkswagen. almost everywhere i c that brand of automobile.

the professors we learned about business management influenced me once again.
there's many singaporeans here and teaching us to see the LIGHT.
really fun.

no regrets.

I am going to travel to beijing to visit cheryl and here, I am going to stay with shanghai GIP students (hopefully)

else, independence to learn something new again.

this is so different from studying in Australia for 2 mths.
geez, I've matureD! hehe...

definitely brushed on my bargaining skills and the networking skills of coz.

I already miss my summer program frenz.
definitely wanna go amsterdam, hongkong, perth, paris again to meet them.

and of coz, I can't wait to go back singapore. it's where my family and friends are.

it's juz part of getting used to one country and leaving another.
in the end, you have to go back where u belong.

Memories retain.
but it wun be the end.

Hope I can post more fotos! and share my album. meanwhile come back to check for updates.

tata!

Sunday, June 04, 2006

I am here for almost a week and I still loved the shopping :x

alot alot of happenings and I dunno where to start?

went to a few scenic areas and took loads of fotos but I guess at our age, who can really appreciate gardens, buildings, tours or watever.

I still loved it. I must brush up on my chinese when I get back.
my precious possession!

erm let me post some fotos to let u c what I mean :P

shanghai university! unfortunately this is not the one we are studying at. ours is at yanchang rd and more central. they say it's like singapore SMU becoz of its town location and exposure to shopping and business district.

weee! me again and I can't believe I would ever come to shanghai to study!!!
it's great :) no regrets

welcome to the ever famous nanjing rd! shanghai has 4 shopping districts: xiangyang market, xujiahui, huaihai rd,nanjing rd. can't get enough of xiangyang but the rest are more expensive than singapore especially those branded ones. i check adidas and mng and im like woah..... go back singapore buy instead! :x

the exchange group and consist of students from amsterdam, france, hongkong and australia and of coz, Singapore. it was fun with the mix of culture. and I am proud to say, Singapore has the best of both worlds of East and West. some were surprised by the command of english we had and the kinda of music we appreciate - English? heheh.. yo r & B? bring it on! chinese? noproblem man! both also can! :D

take care guys! I will be back soon. meanwhile I wanna go hangzhou! xi hu.

all the chinese culture surrounding me... and I love shanghai but sometimes the people here really got attitude toking so loud and spitting is like a common sight.

still, the shopping rocks!

yaps! apparently as long as u r in china, no matter what U CANNOT ACCESS TO any blogspot.com websites including mine :(

so peeps, while i am in shanghai, i can blog but I can't read my own blog or even view comments or view ur blog

forgive me.

meanwhile, in shanghai.. I am juz eating, shopping, eating, shopping
and studying (during class)

pretty interesting! learning about the political and economic structure of china so far. china is really progressing. singapore better buck up!!!!! hahaa

and in my course, I have classmates from uni of amsterdam, australian students from edith cowan uni, hong kong students from Hongkong baptist uni, french student from Institut Superieur du commerce, france. sucha a mixture! it's really fun

I really very grateful to our singapore govt who want us to learn english and mandarin. I am so bilingual now in china! can converse in both languages and amsterdam students were shocked we can even sing english songs! esp dancing to r & B music. oh yeah!

I jus regret not learning well my mandarin. or else i can really converse better with the chinese people here. It's good to b a translator to my fellow classmates. it juz feels good.

and I love shanghai so much!

the shopping. driving me NUTS!

hehe update more fotos. too much to update man!
