A meaningful article I ripped off from Electric Newpaper.

Read it, ponder it and act on it ;)

Where are you in the big picture?

WE have all been there before: Feeling unimportant.
It's part and parcel of growing up and preparing to take on the responsibilities of a participating member of your community and the larger society.
Without question, most of us have a good idea of who we are, and the roles we are expected to perform in our community.
But when you really stop and think for a bit, exactly how did you become aware of your identity and the goals that you have?
With all the ups and downs that we face in living, there are many experiences that contribute to our sense of self.
How we see ourselves is very much influenced by our friends, the relationships we get involved in, and traumatic events such as break-ups, divorces, and death.
Even current social, political and economic trends shape our outlook on life.
After taking into account all of these factors, where are you in the big picture?
In a nutshell, what you think others think about you will eventually influence how you picture yourself.
You start to become your own assumptions.
Because human beings are always in the process of becoming, it is important that you engineer your life in such a way that you feel good about yourself.
Mr David Kan, executive director of the Family Life Centre, has some key suggestions to help you achieve personal significance.
Remember that no two persons are alike
Everyone possesses unique orientations and abilities, so each individual will have capabilities that he can call his own.
Be aware of your own abilities
Once you know where your special-ness lies, then you can know how best to contribute individually to society. Just like an instrument in an orchestra, everyone contributes to the harmony of the music.
Be M.A.D. - Make A Difference
Don't imagine yourself to be so insignificant that you are unable to make a positive change to yourself, your neighbours and even the world.
We all have the means to arrive at our goals, so maximise your potential and fulfil your destiny.
But ask yourself, what destiny do you want to forge: A positive or a destructive one?
Identify your most pressing needs and pursuits in life
The challenge is to know what kind of destiny you want for yourself.
Once you know that you are unique and different, you must also have the courage to overcome the odds in life and realise your full potential as a human being.
Self-actualisation will follow. - Cynthia Loh

Believe in it like Lynette does because believing is the 1st step for self actualisation.
