Today was a funderful fruitful day for me. I wanna blog, blog down everything I've experience from mediacorp radio. the bad and the good.
it has been 5 mths. A torrendous but yet challenging 5 mths. everything in mediacorp radio must be done snip snap, meticulous and nitty grutty details has to be noted down, tons of procedures (Listed and not listed), being a gatekeeper to the higher management and the sales people can be the most careful thing that gotta be handled.
humans...we err.. we defend.. we have pride.. we have miscomm..we have our breakdowns as well.
with 67 people in the dept. nonetheless can be prevented with human relation conflicts and disputes especially in the area of sales. everything have to be B & W, clear cut and documented, filed, retrieved, endorsement, signatures etc etc.
that's big co. do
i was really not used to it in the 1st place. everything u process, have different levels of management to acknowledged. and u better hell noe what u r telling them to approve on. Made lots of mistakes and the pace - very fast and people will come chasing u for things to be done. have to make sure the sales people close sales with no discrepancies and they are bookings worth 4 - 5 digits. No messing around with datelines here.
Procastinators simply can't survive in there.
yaps, in this co. the highest have their glory. everyone have their knowledge how to not to keep their asses on the air.
NOT everything about there is bad remember?
Mediacorp radio is like a family. Mr James Yip is a very nice CEO. He makes the effort to lunch with everyone even us. Charming cheerful fun loving guy. he makes the point to explain to us and motivate us with beer and wine -_-". he joins the fun with us. most of all, he incentive us. he really got the passion. the passion for people management and radio.
Tristine - our GM is one of the best bosses I've ever met as well. She's like a sunshine lady with no threat no airs and smiles and greet at u. she even serve us food one time. She even sms us happy CNY! omg..I really respect. she place on par with us sometimes even. telling us about her family, her son, her life and practically opening up to her subordinates. I must thank her too. we played bingo and she offer to buy a tic for me to try my luck and I won $100 centrepoint voucher! yeah........
Today, she brought us to Keyaki Japanese restaurant in Pan Pac hotel. It's so zen-like and exquisite. not forgetting the costly food she ordered for us. We really ordered alot alot for about 15 people - admin pool only. had fun and laugh lots and she keep drowning us with cold sakae. EMmMmmMM... simply shoika. I am getting fatter. How could I not be? been eating alot of good food recently with treats from mediacorp. went to the beer garden in orchid country club with mediacorp radio to loh hei. the food there is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! u must try if u need good food: lobster porridge especially
I must say... Mediacorp radio management has been an eye-opener to me. I've learned so much and is still learning. it's hard to find another corporate culture like theirs. No idea about other depts like tv, studios, new, press, technology.
for now, I will work hard! and look forward for my company retreat and confirmation appraisal after 6 mths.. *praying*
