Yea, it's just like any university - tutor and a class of students.
teaching, learning, asking, PARTICIPATING.
people are outspoken but I am disturbed by the fact that some people are asking for the sake of asking.
competition change us to adapt maybe or are they thinking too much? ok one more could be, they are just HUNGRY for knowledge.
then again, my own opinion.
But I do appreciate the fact that they are indeed different from us. the seminar was conducted in a way, allowing space for expressions.
other than that, We had a fun quiz conducted in the most different way from NTU.
Note, my benchmark will be from NTU point of view and what I may think is different may be oblivious or typic to others.
We are given a remote control like with options like A, B, C, D and so on. Prof flashes question on the projector. we have to rush to answer. the fastest fingers will get 5 bonus points. each student are allocated to a specific number so she can check who answered wrongly. It's like who wanna be a millionaire! Prof then flashes a histogram of how many chose A,B,C,D etc.
she then discusses to the class why is that specific answer.
I thought learning was brought to the next level. learning as a class, along side, on the spot.
1st lesson and I learned the last chapter of NTU equivalent module! gosh.... are we lagging?
But really like the practical approach.
I also took Visual Design in Marketing yesterday. simply love it to the core.
3.30 to 8pm - I thought it was going to be hell! but guess not!
1 hr on lesson and straight to assignment 1 creating an ad for SMU, we went out there - brainstorming, snapping, uploading, designing on the spot!
within bearly 2.5hrs, we created an ad out of every resources we can utilised and see.
I thought it's REAL. in real work life, U dun have time to meddle and bringing ur stuffs back.
u have to do it like NOW, submit it in real time.
great fun! Love the creativity process.
No exams but final project which will be placed on an exhibition. way cool! we will be going to an ad agency for so called field trip
real creative briefs given for references.
where can I find this in NTU? apparent maybe not. maybe there is but I have not experience.
the recognition for students' work and hearing the students out is something education gotta work towards.
in this globalisation context, it's not just u and me. but the employers' expectations of u.
Education, gotta come as REAL as possible.
throw the textbooks away, application!
