my long overdue post on UK!
I have to start blogging now.. since i have nothing better to do now. hah!
I am currently waiting for 2 companies to get back to me. one of which will be my future job.
I wun divulge until it's confirm so meanwhile, let's go on for this exchange journey of mine which is like way back few mths.
my UK journey starts with Edinburgh. we've heard so much abt UK being different frm other parts of Europe. not forgetting how powerful they were and are now still. Even the architectures, monuments and structures feels different. people are different.
arrived in backpack and str off to edinburgh castle.
a little history to bore: this castle has been around for 3000 years and sought safety on the castle rock. In the middle ages, scotland and england were on wars and this castle was the chief royal castle until 1566, it become like a garrison fortress.
it's pretty obvious that the presence of the cannons act as a fortress, used as defences and so far, these are the most I've seen in my castles expedition.
these are only level 1, there are abt 4-5 levels if i remember correctly.
me and cannon having a good time :)
I saw this and my heart sank. dogs' cemetaries. how sweet to cremate them....
at the gates!
at the great hall where the impressive swords on display
our expensive lunch.. i mean that's the cheapest decent meal we can get! but I must say the scottish are one of the nicest and friendliest people we've met. looking at maps and people just come approaching us to help us, recommending us and guiding us without fail!
gees, felt so welcome there!
the next day, we decided to rent a car to drive up to the highlands.
backpacking and still so spoiled to drive! haha but we wanted to travel free and easy :P so of coz, let the guys navigate!
highlands beholddd!!!
On the way there.. i realised the clouds are sooooo LOW! i can almost touch them like cotton candies.. feel like licking them :P
running across the empty grasslands and we are talking abt ABUNDANT. where can U find this in Singapore? priceless!
however, it was very cold at that time coz there were dark clouds.
we went to scotch whiskey distillery and have a go at the different smoky level of scotch. look at the varieties!
we had so much great plans for this journey. grabbed some bus/tour guides and wanted to travel to lochness, aberdeen and even another stirling castle, inverness, glens etc.
yeaps, we need those guides. c the brochures and we go WOW, WE WANNA C THIS! but nahz... in the end, we screwed it all and decide to follow our guts instinct
not me, ask the driver and navigator. i was sleeping coz i was sick :( but guess where the wheels lead us to? an unknown, non-commercial like place.
sadly, cant remember the name but it was glen loch something. hect coz it was hell beautiful :)
then it started snowing! not really big flakes of snow but rain-like drizzies that solidified and landed all over me.
looks like black riding hood :/
another view that captivated me: queen's view and here's where I bought my fave butterscotch honey filled cookies! haiz Missed eating that so much!
the long and winding road. loved it :D
snow-capped mountains behind me!
dropped by at this little small town. so pretty!
I love the row of houses with their nice landscape in front. so peaceful and serene.
unbustling, undisturbed. can I live with that? maybe not but that moment, i really enjoy immersing in it :P
more grassland portraits before heading back to edinburgh.
U wun see but it was FRIGGING COLD when we took this pic because of the winds and dark clouds above us. it did not spare us!
at tat time, i wanted the SUN so bad. my long lost sun friend!
there was a place called perth in the highlands and we were quite close but din have time else we will be travelling with nO LIGHTS! how scary, in a foreign land.. amidst the mountains. where u shout for help and noone to help u but the stars to guide u. no thanks!
a memory of our rented car :D
here marks the end of edinburgh!
lovely place.... not forgetting the highlands.
but I love LOndon!
more to come.....
